TAKING IT TO THE SKY-BECOMING A PROFESSIONAL PILOT

0 ulasan

Ahmad Azuan Ton Mohamed comes from a rural area in Besut, Terengganu and is the fourth child in a family of 10 children. When i was introduced to him at the Asia Pacific Flight Training (APFT) Academy in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, the Principal of APFT, Maj. (Rtd) Dato’ Mohd Khalid Ali had expressed that Ahmad Azuan will be awarded the Top Gun trophy for being the overall best student in his batch.

Ahmad Azuan is currently completing his Instructor Course at the academy after having just graduated with a Commercial Pilot License this year. It was his stepping stone to achieve his dream of becoming a professional pilot.

WONDERING

The composed 21-year-old’s flying ambition was fuelled when he was in high school.”My school was located near an airport. I used to be intrigued by the planes landing and taking off, wondering what it was like to fly a plane”. He beams to me..

Not that, he needed anymore slaps on the wrist to goad him further. His uncompromising attitude is demonstrated by his self dicipline, unlike many peers his age.”When i decide to pursue something, i will be wholeheartedly dedicated and focused. I cannot be distracted.” He admits.

BOARDING SCHOOL

The studious Ahmad Azuan was 13 when he moved to a boarding school. The experience, he says, was invaluable. At first, he was upset an often homesick because he did not have enough money to travel home during his studies. But the most difficult and challenging times proved to be his biggest motivator to help his family break free of their limitations.

His eyes glaze with reverence every time he mentions his family.”They are my prioritiy.I’m now able to support my younger siblings by helping them with thei school fee. My family is very supportive and education is highly valued. That’s the way i was brought up, in addition to having religion as my guidance.”
